The show was about the creepy scenes, bone-chilling organ, screams and a mystery to be solved. Most of the time, women are the show’s protagonist, maybe for the purpose of targeting women as the audience. As for why it is the Haunting Hour, despite the fact that the show only runs for 30 minutes, it’s still a mystery.
"Homicide House". Two reporters investigating a murder come upon a rundown mansion inhabited by a strange trio who insist it's still 1898! + Our story begins late at night in one of the rooms of an exclusive Florida hotel where Mr Van Cleek receives a call from Special Investigator Collins of the Miami police to warn him that his life is in danger. Mr Van Cleek was annoyed at the inconvenience of the call and then having put the phone down in defiance answered a knock at the door only to be shot dead

SUSPENSE ♦ Classic Radio show ♦ Wet Saturday ♦ EP 3 ♦ 06-24-1942
Suspense Radio Show 06-24-1942
Episode 3
Title: Wet Saturday
Stars: Herbert Marshall and Edmund Gwenn
Genre(s): Drama and suspense
Language: English
One of the premier drama programs of the Golden Age of Radio, was subtitled "radio's outstanding theater of thrills" and focused on suspense thriller-type scripts, usually featuring leading Hollywood actors of the era. Approximately 945 episodes were broadcast during its long run, and more than 900 still exist.
Suspense went through several major phases, characterized by different hosts, sponsors, and director/producers. Formula plot devices were followed for all but a handful of episodes: the protagonist was usually a normal person suddenly dropped into a threatening or bizarre situation; solutions were "withheld until the last possible second"; and evildoers were usually punished in the end.
In its early years, the program made only occasional forays into science fiction and fantasy. Notable exceptions include adaptations of Curt Siodmak's Donovan's Brain and H. P. Lovecraft's "The Dunwich Horror", but by the late 1950s, such material was regularly featured. Summary By Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suspense_(radio_drama)

The Old, Old Man ♦ Chiller Thriller ♦ The Haunting Hour ♦ EP 3
Originally Aired 04/07/1945 on The Haunting Hour Radio Show
Title: The Old, Old Man
Genre(s): Horror, Thriller, Chiller, Mystery, Supernatural
Language: English
"The Old, Old Man" is the story of a very rich, retired old man who has left the city where he has lived with his stepdaughter and her husband, and has, without letting them know, secreted himself from their home and loving care to return to an old, out-of-the-way hotel where he once lived. The old hotel is now occupied by a few other very old men who wish to see all of the others dead. For you see, they have each signed a will stating that the last survivor among them is heir to the combined fortunes of the others. The kicker to the whole plan--now that their newest member has moved in, the above-mentioned rich old man--is that before his arrival the combined fortunes of the other 7 old geezers amounted to but a paltry $20,000, but with his new money the fortune awaiting the last to die is now well over a million dollars. Quite an incentive for murder, wouldn't you say? Soon enough the stepdaughter and her husband have tracked her stepfather to the hotel and beseech him to leave, but he resists their entreaties forcefully, offering to them that he has beaten or come out ahead in everything else in his life and he now wishes to beat the price of Death by playing this little game with these fellow old men. But then, right on cue, bodies begin to be murdered and then go missing, with naught but a blood trail leading to a corpse-laden back room in the cellar of the hotel, highlighting the disturbing out-of-character, frightening behavior on the part of the stepfather. But what would he have to gain but a miniscule $20,000 by murdering all of the other old codgers? Several clues point to one or the other of the old men along the way, but this traditionally incorporated script misdirection keeps the listener guessing as to the identity of the murderer, and to the man who eventually executes a plan to ensare him. Listen now to this morbid tale of serial murder most foul and learn what makes one man succomb to the evil buried deep within his soul and which all men possess, but allows it to escape to the world of the living in "The Old, Old Man."

The Black Reaper ♦ By Bernard Capes ♦ Supernatural Horror ♦ Full Audiobook
Title: The Black Reaper
Author: Bernard Capes
Genre(s): Horror & Supernatural Fiction
Language: English
Read By: Angelique G. Campbell
Librivox Recording
Until his death in 1918, Bernard Capes was a prolific, talented, and highly-regarded author of short stories, reviews, articles, and more than forty novels. Among his short stories were some of the most imaginative tales of terror of his era: stories of werewolves and the Wandering Jew, of lost souls and vengeful suicides, of horrors from beyond the grave which enfold the unsuspecting.
However, following his untimely death the author fell into almost total neglect, and his works were forgotten for sixty years. In 1978 Hugh Lamb began the process of resurrecting Capes's reputation when he used 'The Moon Stricken' in his aptly-titled Forgotten Tales of Terror. The following year he used two of Capes's greatest stories—'The Green Bottle' and 'An Eddy on the Floor'—in Tales from a Gas-Lit Graveyard, and the author's reputation began to grow amongst enthusiasts of the classic supernatural tale.
In 1989, Lamb edited The Black Reaper for the now-classic Equation Chillers series, thus cementing Capes's reputation as one of the best writers of weird stories in the genre. This new edition is augmented by a further eleven stories, most of which have not been seen since their original book publication more than eighty years ago. Lamb's revised introduction also makes use of new biographical information which has only recently come to light, providing the most comprehensive look available at this forgotten master of terror.

Francis Ingram (Victor Francen) is a noted pianist who lives in a large manor house near a small, isolated Italian village. Ingram suffered a stroke which left his right side immobile, and he has to use a wheelchair to get around. He has retreated to the manor house for the past few years—seen by only a few close friends. These include his nurse, Julie Holden (Andrea King); a musicologist (and amateur astrologist), Hillary Cummins (Peter Lorre); a friend, Bruce Conrad (Robert Alda); and his sister's son, Donald Arlington (John Alvin). Ingram has fallen in love with Julie Holden, and has changed his will so that she receives the vast bulk of his enormous estate when he dies. But Julie is secretly in love with Conrad. The change in the will disinherits Arlington and Cummins, and Cummins tries to expose Holden's affair. Ingram, outraged at the slander on his beloved's good name, tries to choke Cummins to death. Only Julie's arrival (after meeting Conrad in the garden) saves him.
Later that night, Ingram begins to suffer hallucinations from poison put in his food and drink. He climbs into his wheelchair, makes it to the top of the stairs, and calls out for Julie (who never comes to his aid). Ingram falls down the stairs, breaking his neck. (The audience does not see if Ingram was pushed or he fell.) Commissario Ovidio Castanio (J. Carrol Naish) of the local police investigates the death, but finds little sign of murder.
A few days later, Raymond Arlington (Charles Dingle) (Donald's father) arrives, determined to ensure that his son gets the inheritance. Duprex (David Hoffman), Ingram's attorney, tells Raymond that there are suspicions regarding Ingram's death that may lead to overturning the new will in favor of the old one. That night, Duprex is murdered by an unseen assailant. Commissario Castanio begins to investigate. The Arlingtons try to search for the old will, while suspicion falls on Cummins after he tries to remove several expensive old books from the manor house. That night, everyone hears Ingram playing the piano in the main hall, but when they go to check no one is there. Donald, too, is attacked and almost choked to death. Commissario Castanio discovers that someone has broken into the Ingram mausoleum and cut off Ingram's left hand. But it seems impossible for anyone to have gotten in or out.
The audience now begins to see a disembodied hand moving around the manor house. The hand attacks Cummins, but he is able to assuage the hand's quest for vengeance by giving the hand Ingram's signet ring. He locks the hand in a closet, but when Conrad and Holden appear to see what has happened — the hand has disappeared. Meanwhile, Donald Arlington remembers the combination and location of an old safe in the house, and Commissario Castanio and his father accompany him to the room where it is located. They discover the old will...and the disembodied hand. In a fit of madness, Donald Arlington flees the house with Conrad in pursuit. He comes to his senses, and is not harmed. When Holden claims to have discovered the hand, Cummins (becoming more and more mentally unhinged) tries to burn it in the fire. But the hand crawls out and chokes him to death.
Commissario Castanio discovers a hidden record player and concludes that Cummins was playing it to scare people. He theorizes that Cummins cut off the hand, killed Duprex, and tried to kill Arlington. By that point, his mind had snapped, making him believe his own fabricated plot. Richard Le Gallienne (1866 – 1947) was an English author and poet.
“The Haunted Orchard” is considered to be the best mystery short story in the literary experience of Richard Le Gallienne. The majority of his stories amaze the mind though not a very long but very intriguing story as a rule associated with ghosts and mysterious creatures.Visit me on Tumblr at https://www.tumblr.com/blog/chipslater

Plot:
Basil Elton, a lighthouse keeper, engages in a peculiar fantasy in which a bearded man in robes is piloting a mystical white ship which appears when the moon is full. Elton walks across the water on a bridge of moonbeams, joins the bearded man on the ship, and together they explore a mystical chain of islands unlike anything that can be found on Earth.
They travel past Zar, a green land where "dwell all the dreams and thoughts of beauty that come to men once and then are forgotten", then the majestic city of Thalarion, "City of a Thousand Wonders", where frightful demons dwell. They pass Akariel, the huge carven gate of Thalarion, and continue their voyage. Elton is informed that those who enter both places have never returned. During the voyage, they seem to be following an azure celestial bird. They also pass Xura, the "Land of Pleasures Unattained", which seems pleasant from a distance but reeks of plague upon getting nearer. They finally settle in Sona-Nyl, the "Land of Fancy", where Elton spends a period of time which he describes as "many aeons", living in what seems to be a perfect society. During his time in Sona-Nyl, he learns of Cathuria, the "Land of Hope". Though no man truly knows where Cathuria is or what lies there, Elton is thrilled with the idea, fantasizing about it wildly, and urges the bearded man to take him there, which the man reluctantly agrees to do. They follow the celestial bird westward. After a perilous journey to where the crew believes Cathuria to be, the ship instead finds itself at the edge of the world, and plummets to its doom.
Elton awakens to find himself on the wet rocks next to his lighthouse, mere moments after he first departed on the white ship - and just in time to witness a catastrophic shipwreck caused by the light having gone out for the first time. He is further shaken by his later finding a dead azure bird and a spar of pure white. Summary by Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_White_Ship_(story)
